Living in Barcelona I am very lucky to be close to some great art galleries which I like to visit whenever I can. Recently, the CaixaForum held an exhibition of Spanish impressionist painterings which I enjoyed very much and inspired me to try painting a work by Sorolla. It was difficult to capture the sunlight and shadows around the two boats and the effect of the water moving up and down the beach but I enjoyed painting with such bold colours. I was pleased how I managed to capture the effect of the wind blowing against the sails of the boats and also loved painting in the deep blue of the sky. This Easter hopefully I will be able to post one or two new paintings to the blog. We will see!
